What is a teaser bet?

Much like a parlay bet, the teaser bet requires the gambler to select the winner of multiple games on one wager. At the sports books in Las Vegas, the teaser bet can be played on any number of games (between 2 and 15) grouped together in one bet. For the teaser bet to payout, every team selected to win must win. If one of the selected teams does not win, the entire bet does not win.

Rather than allowing this multi-game requirement to give the gambler better odds like the parlay bet does, the teaser bet allows the gambler to adjust the point spread by 6 points on each game in favor of the team he/she selects to win.

For example: if the odds makers had set the New England Patriots to be the favorite by 2 points over the New York Giants, a gambler choosing to play that game on a teaser could bet either of the following:

 New England +4 points (-2+6=+4)

 New York +8 points (+2+6=+8)

The teaser bet gives the gambler a cushion of 6 points on each game played.
